Hi to SVC!
I hope you are either singing or watching the Super Bowl, or both today. A lovely Sunday with exceptionally warm weather.
The Music Team met yesterday and we talked about you. We talked about how wonderful you have been over the past two years and how we have made major strides on personal skills. We also noted that singing together last Wednesday was a bit of a challenge for some of us. Hard to hear yourself! Hard to figure out how to be part of the unit when listening to those around us makes it hard to use our best voice! This Wednesday will get us on the path to UNIT SOUND.
At this time, there are ladies on the riser chart who have not submitted recordings of the two contest songs. A very few of you need to submit a second recording. If no recordings are submitted by Feb 25, the names will be removed for the Saturday, Feb 26 Visual session.
This Wednesday - did you notice announcements were left off the schedule, as was Stamina Building? We are using the entire night to solidify the contest songs. A huge push toward unity. This time will give us the opportunity to listen to sections and move people on the risers to make the most of our vocal and visual presence. If you are not in attendance, I will fill in your spot with a person who has the sound and appearance for that spot.
Please - do the following homework: Watch the following youtube clip several times. Focus on the sound. Then watch again and focus on the visual. Then watch again and notice the faces. Then watch one more time for fun! This is our uptune - a song that is FUN! We are going to work smart, not hard, and get our performance up to this level. EVERY woman exudes confidence and joy. Do you see tension or blank faces? Not much!

Wednesday - Vocal Warmups are 6:30 PM. Be in your new riser position. I will have the riser chart, but it is also on the website. It is not the final final! Soundappearnance (faces mostly) will determine your final riser placement and I can't do that until Wednesday.
AND lastly - smart singers warm up their voices BEFORE rehearsal. Our warmups are not intended to take you from a day of speaking into singing. You are responsible for warming up your instrument before you arrive, or after you arrive. Think of an orchestra or a band - they sit/stand and do personal warmups BEFORE the conductor begins the rehearsal. Bubble, hum, sing arpeggios....you will notice a positive difference.
See you Wednesday - we have begun our journey to 2022 Contest. xoxox
