| Description: | Message from Dede 10-16-2021 Happy Sunday to all Pearl Harbor Singers! The months have passed by so quickly! We started preparing for Pearl Harbor in July, and now I am planning our last rehearsal! This means that we are rapidly approaching our Pearl Harbor Performance! The October rehearsal was very successful as it pointed out our strengths and our few weaknesses. We have a strong song list - our USS Arizona program will consist of nine songs. (the only one we will not sing is "You've Got A Friend in Me). Our opener is "Armed Forces Medley" and the closer is "One Voice." We will practice the entire program in order on November 6 - running the program two times without stopping. Be prepared. We will not comment, talk, move around, have music in our hands - basically, we will be performing! I am working on a different venue for the November 6 rehearsal. I hope we can rehearse at the Center for Spiritual Awareness in West Sacramento. Details on this will come to you ASAP. This is the same location as the December 1st performance. The December performance is an opportunity for your family and friends to hear us sing our package and see us in our red, white, and blue outfits!! Yes, the December 1 date is our DRESS REHEARSAL. Think about white closed-toed shoes. Do you have them? This has been a wonderful experience for me - I hope it has been a fun time for you, as well. The good news is - we still have the best to come - the actual experience in Hawaii! Our preparation is the key to that performance. I appreciate that you have learned the music, learned it well, and show it in your performance. We want to present a heartfelt show and to do that, we must feel the music. The audience will feel our music, our message, if we do. We must feel the strength and meaning in the lyrics, feel the rise and fall of the vocal line, and feel the emotion, the meaning, and reason for these songs. It could truly be a breathtaking occasion for both audience and performer. I am so happy and proud to be part of the Pearl Harbor celebration.
