What a fun competition in Sparks, Nevada. We came in fifth, but we improved our score by 27 points. We are happy about that and looking to build on that for next year. We have gained a number of new members and have some waiting in the wings. These are exciting times as we grow and improve.
At our first rehearsal following the competition, we held our annual potluck dinner and management team installation, which was hosted by Barb Vander Putten. During the installation, Barb interviewed each member with stunning questions like "The digital world is perceiving your chorus as a knitting group. How do you remedy this?" It was fun and challenging for everyone.
Our new management team is made up of the following members: Sherry Rowe, Team Coordinator; Mary Allen, Secretary; Sue Barkley, Membership Coordinator; Pattie Bauer, Finance Coordinator; Desiree Hughart, Events Coordinator; Alison Miller, Marketing Coordinator; Kristi Penelton, Director; Valerie Richie, fundraising Coordinator; and Maxine Verma, Communications Coordinator.
Our Director, Kristi Penelton, is busy setting up new coaching sessions and new music. Where she finds the time is a mystery because she sings with Diablo Vista Chorus and her quartet, Twilight, which won first place at the competition in May. This means they are traveling to the International Convention and Competition this fall in Columbus, Ohio. (Whew!) We are so proud of her and wish her well.
