Pearl Harbor Tour Recap question answers from 4/1/2021

Airline transportation
  1.  Does everyone need to leave from Sacramento or can HP arrange transportation from other cities?
There must be at least 10 people in a group to arrange transportation from another city and they must return to the airport of origin.  (Sacramento to Sacramento, San Diego to San Diego)
  1. When doing pre-or-post-tour arrangements, is flying just one way with the group available?
Yes, this is called a deviation.  While it might be possible to go prior to Dec. 5th and return with the group on Dec. 9th, it is better to go on Dec. 5th with the group and then extend after our Pearl Harbor tour.  HP would have to work with the airlines on this issue.
  1. If you are making your own flight arrangements, will transfers from the airport to the hotel be available?
Yes, but it is up to the individuals to make flight arrangements that coincide with those of the main group.  If you are there when the bus is boarded, you on!
  1. Is it more cost-effective to book air travel through HP or independently?
If you find a really good deal (under $500), you might decide to go on and book on your own as he can’t guarantee an exact price right now but it probably won’t be under $500.  When he knows the size of our group, he will watch for a “good” deal and reserve a block of tickets, put a deposit down and then pay for the tickets at the final payment time.

Hotels
  1. When will we know where we are staying?
He is making the arrangements for the various groups now so we should know soon where we will be staying.  It will in the Waikiki area, not inland.
  1. Will there be a room available for us to use for warming up, practicing?
He will check on this for us.  There may be a fee for use of the room.  I mentioned that if there were other SAI choruses participating, we might be able to make out a schedule to share the room if the hotel would provide one.
  1. For participants who come early or extend, will the hotel rate remain the same as for the tour?
There is a $250/room/night fee (not per person) for any extensions (pre-or post-).

Itinerary
  1. When will we know our final tour itinerary?
That will not be available for months as there is much to do and getting the schedule set for all participants (there will be over 3,000).  We will receive it as soon as possible.
  1. When will we know our performance schedule of times?
This will be in our final itinerary schedule.
             3.   We are signed up for the 4 night/5 day package (Dec. 5th – Dec. 9th).

Finances
  1. All members who had money being held in escrow from last year should have received an email from Maxine regarding their balance.
  2. Any questions regarding the financial responsibility of participants should be addressed to Maxine at svctour@sacramentovalleychorus.com.
Vaccinations
  1. As the situation evolves, we will only be able to address this issue closer to our tour.  The individual airlines have their own policies and we will have to adhere to those at the time of travel.  The same goes for whatever guidelines are in place in Hawaii in December.  Note of interest:  For my friend who flew to Hawaii yesterday, the airline required them to have a valid COVID test within 72 hours prior to flying.  They had to go to the airport to do the test, which she said was quite easy and they had the results back the next day.  They were taking along their vaccination cards but I don’t know if the airline required them or they just felt it was a good idea.
