Maddy Corrington
Madalynn M. Corrington, age 84 and affectionately known as Maddy, passed into the loving arms of God on December 21, 2006 with her entire family surrounding her. Family, friends, bridge buddies and her Sweet Adeline sisters celebrated her life at a requiem mass on December 29, 2006 in Carmichael, CA.
Born in Jefferson, South Dakota, Maddy began singing at the early age of three, continued her singing career through grade and high school and was a lead singer in a band. She married Don Corrington in 1944 and had five children: Jana, Kevin, Christopher, Milissa and Catherine; eight grandchildren: Rebecca, Bob, Crispen, Cassia, Sean, Elizabeth, Amanda and Aaron; and four great-grandchildren: Nikole, Rachael, Eden and Duncan.
She was introduced to Sweet Adelines in 1952; committed herself to singing barbershop harmony and was a 50+ year member. She was a chorus member of River City Showcase (formerly Camellia City), Sacramento Valley and Voice of the Valley. A five-time director and eight-time assistant director, Maddy treasured her affiliation with Sweet Adelines and over the years held several administrative positions, as well. She was an active quartet singer, entertained in the community, appeared on shows and competed on the International stage.
She often said that some of her best experiences and friendships were found through her wonderful hobby and that she held them dear…or in her own words: “I wouldn’t have missed this for the world”.
All will miss her love and support. We love you, Maddy! |
