Linda Lynn Hayes
On April 22, 2005 family, friends, co-workers, and Sweet Adeline sisters gathered to celebrate the life of Linda Hays, a loving family member, a very accomplished musician and a very successful career woman. Linda passed away on April 18, 2005. It was not expected and a shock to all. She was very active in her job and hobbies just days before her passing. The cause is not known at this time of writing. Linda graduated in 1970 from Miramonte High School, Orinda, CA. In 1974 she graduated from the University of Davis with a B.A. in Spanish and a Minor in Music. Two years later she received her M.A. in Spanish. She also received an A.S. in Computer Science.
Linda's early career days were spent selling books for Wadsworth Publishing. She then went on to spend the next twenty-two years working for several departments within the State of California including the Board of Equalization, Veteran's Affairs, and finally with the Department of Transportation (CalTrans) as a Senior Programmer Analyst.
Linda was an accomplished musician both vocally and instrumentally. In the early 80's, Linda was the president of the Classical Guitar Society of Sacramento. In 1983 she joined the Sacramento Valley Chorus where she sang for sixteen years. In 1999 she joined Voice of the Valley chorus. Linda was the webmistress of the Voice of the Valley website, tenor section leader, choreographer, and videographer. Linda also was an avid quartetter. She sang with "Special Request", "Plum Dandy", "Footloose", "Street Talk", and "Vibrance". When "Impact!" needed a substitute she was always there to fill in as 'tenor extraordinaire'. She was an excellent musical teacher, mentor, and role model.
Linda brought joy to everyone's life and to everyone who knew her. We will miss her irrepressible smile, her sense of humor, her kindness, her many talents, her willingness to sing anywhere, anytime, and most of all - her passion for living every day to its fullest. She is still remembered and missed by many of us! |
