Janet Cohoat

Janet lost her battle with lung cancer and passed away in Sacramento on April 5, 2007. She had been married to her husband, Mark, for seventeen years and she was a loving mother to her daughter, Julia. Her home and family were very important to her. When she wasn't out singing she spent her time with them.

 

Janet was a member of Sweet Adelines for about 10 years. She joined the Camellia City Chorus in 1997 where she stayed until 2001 at which time she moved her membership to Sacramento Valley Chorus. She was  a great "bass" with both choruses. Janet was an active member in her choruses. She served on the Board of Administration and several different committees. For several years she worked as Show Set and Props Designer. She also made the wonderful gift baskets that were given to our competiting quartets each year. She was a wonderful person with many talents, a strong woman, and a loyal friend. She had a great sense of humor which will be missed by all those that knew her.

 

A celebration of Janet's life was held at the East Lawn Mortuary in Sacramento on April 10, 2007

 

A substantial gift was made to the Young Singers Foundation in her name.

 

Note: Janet had a vision for the Sacramento Valley Chorus. In her heart she believed that the chorus was able to "kick butt" and would someday accomplish great things. Janet, we hope you are watching over us and will help us achieve that goal. WE MISS YOU!!
