Carole Kirpatrick - Former Master Director of the top-10 international medalist, Pacific Sound Chorus in Region 13.
She is also a Certified Expression Judge, past International President, Judge Specialists Moderator, on the International Board of Directors, and the Finance Committee. Carole has been a member of Sweet Adelines for 37 years!
Coaching quartets and choruses, training judges and coaches, and teaching a variety of subjects from vocal production and directing skills to team building for section leaders, music staff, choreography teamwork and long-range planning are just a few of her many talents.
Carole will be our coach for our Retreat which will be held in Modesto, March 2012
Ron Black - Chorus Director, past Singing Judge Specialist and past Contest & Judging Chairman
Ron attended both Occidental and Immaculate Heart Colleges in Los Angeles, majoring in Renaissance vocal and instrumental performance. He has also conducted both vocal and instrumental performances of classical works and musical theater. As a member of Barbershop Harmony, Inc., the men's barbershop organization, Ron sang bass in the Great Western Timbre Company, 1986 Far West Division quartet Champions and 15th place International in 1988, and currently 8th place in the Senior Quartet finals. He also sang bass with Rhythm and Rhyme to 14th place International in 1997.
He is the director of the Sacramento Capitolaires Chorus and Associate Director of the new American River Chorus (Delta Chapter) also in Sacramento. He was the Director of the Heart of Texas Chorus in San Marcos, TX - taking 9th place at the 2008 International contest. He has also directed the Fresno Gold Note Chorus and Bay Area Metro Chorus, and has directed the past medalist, San Diego Sun Harbor Chorus. Besides coaching quartets and choruses in the U.S. and abroad, he is a past Society Category Specialist in the Singing category, a past Society Contest & Judging Chairman, and now judges in the Music Category. He was also the Men’s choral conductor at Texas State University.
Ron also coached our very own Sweet Adeline quartet, d'Vine, the second place Region 12 winners for the past two years.
Ron and his wife, Jo, live in Rocklin California. Jo is a 40 year member of Sweet Adeline’s International, having won many 1st place Regional Quartet Champion awards as a bass and once as a lead – placing as high as 8th place in SAI International quartet competition, and earning a gold medal with the San Diego Chorus.

Jan Gervais - Certified Master Director, Region 12, plus SAI Certified Expression Judge
When Jan was the Director of Pacific Empire Chorus, starting in 1980, she demonstrated a commitment to musical excellence and achievement. She retired from her directing position two years ago.
She is a Certified Judge in the Expression Category, a member of the regional musical faculty, coaches quartets and other choruses, and travels extensively to judge competitions for Sweet Adelines International.
SVC is extremely proud to have Jan working with us as one of our vocal coaches. She graces us with her coaching on pre-scheduled rehearsal nights and continues to work with us each year. She has been on our team since 2003. We look forward to our sessions with her in 2012!
Tori Postma - Certified Master Director, Region 8, plus SAI certified Showmanship Judge
Sacramento Valley Chorus thoroughly enjoyed their first coaching session with Tori Postma in January of 2012. She has directed the Mountain Jubilee Chorus in Salt Lake City for 24 years! She is a Quartet Specialist , Certified International Faculty, Certified Showmanship Judge, and a Master Director, plus she has served on the International Board of Directors. She is known for her high energy and innovative showmanship. Her main goal has been to "bring Joy through singing to all women".
